Tonbridge Civic Society Design Award
We are delighted to announce that Hilden Oaks has won the Tonbridge Civic Society Design Award 2022 for the extensions to two of the School's buildings. The Society were impressed with the materials used and how they fitted in with the surroundings, the design of the building, particularly the cladding on the side of the Salmon building and the hall, and how the whole team (school, architect, neighbours and builders) came together to make it work.
Our headmistress, Mrs Katy Joiner, received the award on behalf of the School at an afternoon event hosted by the Tonbridge Civic Society, on Saturday 29th July 2023. The architect, Julian Amos from Silver Jetty together with Chris Tompsett and Troy Cooper from Baxall Construction Ltd (pictured below) also gave a short presentation about the challenges involved in the design and build because of the site restrictions and conservation area. There was a great deal of emphasis on working together as a team to overcome obstacles!
