"Should Computers Replace Teachers?"
This week, Forms 5 and 6 took part in the House Debate to battle out arguments for and against the motion; "This House believes that computers should replace teachers". Mrs Martin presided over the debate to ensure fairness and that everything ran strictly to time.
Each team consisted on three speakers and one argument builder. The Cork House team proposed the motion, which was opposed by the Holm House team. Both teams presented their arguments and counter-arguments, to the rest of Form 6 and Form 5, extremely well. They also actively listened to comments made by the opposing team, and from the floor.
It was a fantastic debate with some extremely strong arguments both for and against the motion. It gave the judges, Mr Smith and Mrs Earl, a very difficult decision to make, as the two teams were so close. They praised Cork for their excellent presentation skills and audience engagement, however, they chose Holm as the overall winner, as they felt they had worked well as a team and their arguments were more cohesive.
Well done to both teams, who should be very proud of such a good debate.
