Reception's Mindful Walk
Reception went for a mindful walk around the school grounds during PE. Miss Parker talked about eating healthily to fuel our bodies with the right nutrients, the importance of regular exercise to keep our hearts strong and how exercise can boost our mental health so that we can cope with everyday ups and downs. During their walk they asked their partner a question and for each question, they swapped partners. The children were encouraged to really listen to their partner's answers, to show them that their voice matters. Every now and again, they stopped to feed back the answers to the rest of the class. Talking and listening to a friend, getting fresh air and walking as a form of exercise are all wonderful ways to boost our mental health.
From the answers the children gave, we have concluded that a perfect day for Reception would be ...some Read Write Inc, followed by PE, then 'Get Busy Time' and finally Aftercare with sandwiches!
