Pink Day Assembly
Ahead of Pink Day, next Friday 18th October, we were delighted to welcome back three Hilden Oaks alumni, who are now students at Tonbridge School, together with Lower Master, Mrs McNeil, to talk to our pupils about the message behind Pink Day. Clad in pink, with tutus, wigs and a host of accessories, their message was loud and clear "When we wear pink the important thing is to talk to people about WHY we're doing it.....". Indeed, creating awareness, as well as fundraising for the local charity, Breast Cancer Kent, is the key point to Pink Day this year. Mrs McNeil added, "Whether you wear a little bit of pink or go all out, it symbolises a lot".
True to their Hilden Oaks roots, the three 'boys' clearly explained how our school values are absolutely entwined in supporting Pink Day, with sharing, empathy, courage and gratitude topping the list. Tonbridge School even presented us with some very special all-pink oak value leaves, which our Values ambassador and Charities Ambassadors, proudly accepted.
Safe to say, our Tonbridge friends generated great excitement, and we can't wait to see Hilden Oaks turn Pink next Friday.
