Whilst everyone is staying safe at home and no one is in school, the computers at school will be very busy working for the Folding@home project - https://foldingathome.org  and on the 11th of May we added 20 more VM computers to the cause!

Folding@home is a way of using lots of small computers around the world working together make one super computer that is extremely powerful. Folding@home is assisting in research towards preventing some virus such as influenza, HIV, and now COVID-19, from from recognizing and entering biological cells.

The project was started by Stanford University and was helping investigate how proteins folded in disease to help develop new treatments but now they are working full time to help in the fight against COVID-19. Even though the school is empty, it’s very noisy due to the fans running in all the computers as they are working so hard!

If you have a computer and want to lend some computing time to the effort, please see https://foldingathome.org/start-folding/
