Combined Cadet Force (CCF)Inspection Parade at Tonbridge School

We were honoured to be invited to attend the Tonbridge School CCF Inspection parade on Wednesday and were beautifully represented by Forms 1 and 6. Prior to the parade, Mr Hargreaves, who leads the CCF at Tonbridge, visited the children to explain the order of events and things to look out for during the inspection, which really added to their excitement and understanding.

The parade itself featured Tonbridge cadets from the Navy, Army, RAF and Guards, who delivered a drill and marching display featuring over 200 manoeuvres, accompanied by the Scott's Guard band from London (complete with bearskins). The Inspecting Officer was Brigadier Gilbert who, as an army doctor, had commanded the British Military Hospital in Afghanistan.

In addition to watching the parade, the children were also able to visit special exhibits for the three emergency services, Queens Gurkha Engineers, experience survival training, laser clay shooting, various boats and a field gun display. Form 1 particularly enjoyed finding out more about the Fire Brigade, as a link to their current Fire of London topic.

Thank you @tonbridgeschool for including the Hilden Oaks children at this special event, they had a brilliant time.
