Celebrating Diwali

Our children in Nursery, Kindergarten and Transition have been learning about Diwali, the Hindu festival of light. The youngest children enjoyed exploring related activities to help them with their understanding of this colourful cultural and religious celebration. Transition focused on Rangoli patterns and traditional dress, where they made patterns from rice and numicon. They also tried on and admired designs and styles of clothing. In addition to this they designed their own henna patterns and joined in with some Indian dancing.

As Diwali is a festival of light, where fireworks are used to celebrate, it was also a great way for the children to consider how we can enjoy fireworks safely.
