Attracting Butterflies

The children in Kindergarten have been thinking about butterflies this week as they continued to explore the story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle. Discovering that butterflies love to visit colourful plants, they experimented with planting seeds differently, by making some seed balls to toss onto bare soil. It was like mixing a cake. They mixed wildflower seeds, compost, flour and water together to make a sticky dough, which they squeezed into a ball shape. The children are hoping that the seed balls take root and grow into beautiful flowers to attract butterflies....watch this space!
