Ahoy! Sing for the Mary Rose

Last Thursday afternoon, Form 2 joined five other schools in Westerham Church, together with an adult choir, to sing at a performance of 'Ahoy! Sing for the Mary Rose' written by Alexander L'Estrange. The piece celebrates the life, death and rebirth of this iconic ship, weaving together sea shanties, new music and Tudor melodies. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning the songs and having the opportunity to perform together with a live professional band, led by the composer himself, at the piano.

Our grateful thanks go to one of our trustees, Mr Daniel Eaton, for organising and conducting the performance, as well as Mrs Gomez and Mrs Syms for rehearsing the songs with the Hilden Oaks children. They were all word perfect and behaved impeccably throughout the afternoon rehearsal and early evening performance. It was all brilliant!
