Headmistress

As the Headmistress of Hilden Oaks, I feel a personal responsibility for every child here.

I know every child by name, as does every member of my staff. I take assembly every morning and also visit classrooms regularly, reading to pupils and dropping into lessons so that pupils know that I am approachable and available. The Head of a school sets the tone for the whole school and the tone I try to set is one of friendly authority. Staff here know that they are part of a committed team and share best practice. Together we have created a school where the best traditions of the past merge with high demands of the present to give every parent the educational promise they want for their child. Children here know they are valued; they are expected to do their best, to treat others with courtesy and respect and to make the most of every day. I am delighted to say that they do.

About the Headmistress

Susan Webb joined Hilden Oaks as Headmistress in 2005. Prior to Hilden Oaks she worked at King's School, Rochester for 16 years, initially in the Prep School and as House Tutor in the Senior Boarding School and latterly as Housemistress and Deputy Head of the Preparatory School.

Susan started teaching in 1978 and holds the following qualifications: Certificate in Education, Higher Certificate in Primary Education, B Ed (Hons) in Management, Leadership & Curriculum Development and an MA in Education. She is also an IAPS Inspector.

She has two grown up children and interests include travelling, riding, gardening and entertaining.
